Selective business litigation
Focused representation for substantial business disputes.
Wave Law Firm, APC considers a limited number of business litigation and trade secret matters where the stakes, evidence, urgency, and practical path to recovery justify intensive litigation.
Before contacting the firm: Do not submit trade secrets, privileged documents, or other highly sensitive material through the website. First provide only enough information for a conflicts review.
Experience and judgment
Commercial litigation requires more than identifying a legal violation.
Founding attorney Paymon A. Khatibi has experience in business litigation and trade secret disputes. That experience informs a practical assessment of what can be proved, what the dispute is worth, what relief may be available, and whether litigation makes economic sense.
The firm is not a general commercial practice and does not accept routine business disputes. Engagements are intentionally limited so selected matters can receive focused factual development, early evidence analysis, and a litigation strategy proportionate to the stakes.
Matters considered
Disputes involving valuable information and serious economic harm.
The firm evaluates each potential engagement individually. A listed category does not mean that every dispute within it will be accepted.
Trade secret misappropriation
Claims involving the acquisition, disclosure, or use of protected business information through allegedly improper means.
Confidential information
Disputes involving proprietary methods, data, pricing, customer information, processes, or other commercially sensitive material.
Competitive misconduct
Selected disputes involving departing personnel, competitors, interference, unfair competition, or misuse of business relationships.
Substantial commercial claims
Selected contract and business-tort matters involving meaningful, documentable losses and a viable litigation strategy.
Trade secret framework
Value and secrecy both matter.
Under California’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act, information may qualify as a trade secret when it derives actual or potential independent economic value from not being generally known and is subject to reasonable efforts to maintain its secrecy.
A trade secret case may require close examination of how information was developed, protected, accessed, transferred, disclosed, and used. California law permits courts to enjoin actual or threatened misappropriation in appropriate circumstances. Federal law may also apply when the statutory requirements are met.
Preserve first
The evidence often exists in systems, devices, and access histories.

Emails, messages, transfers, downloads, and audit logs

Evidence of use, disclosure, competition, and economic harm
Preserve potentially relevant material. Do not delete data, alter devices, access accounts without authorization, or contact opposing parties for evidence without legal guidance.
A deliberate selection process
Not every valid dispute should become a lawsuit.
The review considers legal merit and practical reality together. Acceptance is never based on one fact alone.

Frequently asked questions
Business and trade secret litigation
Does Wave Law Firm accept every business dispute?
No. The firm considers a limited number of matters based on legal merit, evidence, urgency, the amount genuinely at stake, litigation demands, and the practical path to relief or recovery.
What can qualify as a trade secret?
California law can protect certain information, including a formula, pattern, compilation, program, device, method, technique, or process, when it has independent economic value from not being generally known and reasonable efforts are used to maintain secrecy. Whether particular information qualifies is fact-specific.
Can a court stop the use of a trade secret?
California law permits injunctive relief for actual or threatened misappropriation in appropriate circumstances. The availability and scope of relief depend on the evidence, timing, equities, and governing law.
What should I send for an initial review?
Initially provide the parties’ names, a short description of the dispute, the general type of information involved, the approximate amount at stake, and any known deadlines. Do not send the trade secret itself or privileged material until the firm completes a conflicts review and requests it.
